Difficulty
Time 15 minutes (plus 1-2 hours cooling time)
Servings 9
- Saucepan
- Large Bowl
- Microwaveable Bowl / Jug
- 9"x9" Tin
- Spatula
- Parchment Paper
- Cake Skewer or Butter Knife (for the decorative swirls)
- For the Krispie Layer
- 200g White Marshmallows
- 150g Butter
- 175g Rice Krispies
- 157g Terry's Chocolate Orange (1 Orange) - I used the milk chocolate version
- For the Topping and Decoration
- 314g Terry's Chocolate Orange (2 Oranges) - I used the milk chocolate version
- 100g White Chocolate
- Orange Food Colouring
- For the Krispie Layer
- Line a 9"x9" baking tin.
- Gently melt the butter, marshmallows, and Terry's Chocolate Orange in a saucepan on a low-medium heat. Keep the saucepan on the heat and keep stirring until the mixture has formed a smooth sticky paste. Be patient, as this will take a few minutes.
- Once smooth, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the rice krispies until they're evenly covered - work quickly as it'll begin to harden fast! (You can either add the rice krispies to the saucepan or pour the marshmallow mixture on top of the rice krispies, either works!).
- Once fully combined press your krispie layer in to the baking tin (I use the back of a spoon or a spatula for this as it's really sticky!).
- For Topping and Decoration
- Set 9 whole Terry's Chocolate Orange segments aside for decoration, then melt all remaining Terry's Chocolate Orange in a microwave proof bowl/jug in the microwave 10-20 second bursts until smooth. Use the same method to melt the white chocolate in a seperate microwave proof bowl/jug. Stir orange food colouring in to the white chocolate a little at a time until the desired colour is reached!
- Pour the melted orange chocolate on top of the rice krispie layer. Then add dollops of orange-coloured white chocolate on top and use a cake skewer or butter knife to swirl in a pretty pattern! (Hint: Give the tin a little shake on a flat surface to help level the chocolate!)
- Arrange the 9 Terry's Chocolate Orange segments on topping as decoration. Gently press them down to help them stick in to the chocolate!
- Chill in the fridge until fully set before cutting in to pieces (this should take 1-2 hours). Enjoy!
- - Store your Terry's Chocolate Orange Krispie Treats at room temperature where they will last for approx 1 week.
- - More or less chocolate can be added to the topping depending on your desired thickness.
- - The Terry's Chocolate Orange in the krispie layer is optional, you can leave it out if you prefer! Alternatively (and possibly to save a bit of money, depending on which chocolate you use!), you can add 150-200g of milk chocolate to the krispie layer instead.
- - White Terry's Chocolate Orange could be swirled in to the top if you can get your hands on it!
